League Rules

Standard AIA high school rules with the addition of the following:

  • Two 12-minute halves with running clock.  Clock only stops on dead balls in last 2 minutes of game, unless the score differential is 10 points or greater.  Halftime is 1 minute. Each team has one 30-second timeout per half.  Unused timeouts do not carry over.
  • Before the last 2 minutes of the game, there will be no free throws.  A shooting foul (with no basket made) will award 1 point to the offensive team (2 points for a three-point attempt) plus possession.  A shooting foul with basket made will award 1 point in addition to made basket.  Common fouls will only receive possession, unless a team is in the "bonus" (at 5 team fouls per half).  When in the "bonus," a common foul will award 1 point plus possession.  "Double-bonus" will occur at 7 team fouls, but no additional points are awarded.
  • In the last 2 minutes of the game, standard free throw rules will apply.  A shooting foul will result in two free throw attempts.  A common foul will only result in possession, unless a team is in "bonus" (1-and-1 free throws) or "double-bonus" (2 free throws).
  • Technical fouls will be an automatic 2 points plus possession for the opposing team.  Two technical fouls will be grounds for ejection from the game.  Multiple technical fouls over the course of the league may warrant further action, including expulsion from the league.
  • Tie games in the regular season will be decided by a free throw shootout.  Each team will select 5 players to each shoot one free throw.  The team that makes the most out of 5 wins.  If both teams make the same number of free throws, each team will select one player to go head to head in single free throw sudden death.  Tie games in the playoffs will be decided by a 2-minute overtime, with successive overtimes being 1 minute each.  Endgame scoring and timing rules will apply to all overtime sessions.
